The Card Concept #202 {Christmas Cheer}

After a year, I am jumping back into challenges. At The Card Concept, we are working with the fun Christmas photo below. I focused on the red pillow covered in snowflakes at the back.  I chose a clean and layered style... layering the snowflake die cuts and as well as a layered red glitter sentiment to keep the card monotone.

The Card Concept #184 {Merry Christmas}

This week at The Card Concept, we diving into Christmas with a beautiful photo inspiration. I focused on the candle and the highlighted colors: green, white, silver and gold.  I made a clean, layered card. The sentiment, Gloria in Excelsis Deo, was embossed in silver twice as a subtle background. The black frame was embossed with a blanket stitch.  The glitter papers and matte gold cardstock gave further elegance to the card.

I am combining the fabulous colors and flowers from the Card Concept this week with the fun little sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Let me just say I have discovered the brilliance of die cut washi!  Pink Fresh is my new best friend.  I love beautiful washi and now it is easier than ever to use on cards.  The impression plate used on the background is new also... and I anticipate a lot of use!

The Card Concept #174 {How Does Your Garden Grow}

The inspiration photo this week at The Card Concept features a gorgeous spring garden. But what really caught my eye was the magenta flowers and front door.  I decided my CAS card would feature magenta flowers.  I created an alcohol ink panel using fushia and a small amount of orange ink. The flowers were die cut from the alcohol ink panel to give the flowers more dimension.  The color is lovely but very hard to see in this photo.

The Card Concept #167 {Cuppa Cocoa or Coffee?}

I love the sweet PHOTO inspiration at The Card Concept this week.  I decided to focus on the wonderful red Nordic pattern on the mugs.  The Nordic pattern and the sentiment are white embossed on the card base.  Two die cut mugs were added with a snowflake decoration (one mug is foam mounted for dimension).

The Card Concept #166 {Fresh New Year} & TIME OUT Challenge #204 - New

In designing this card, I have combined two challenges.  First, The Card Concept where we are working this week with a photo featuring a large pink flower on a striped table, and second, TIME OUT where we are using NEW goodies to create cards.  I am using the black, pink and gold color scheme suggested by The Card Concept to create a layered thanks card.  The layered pink flowers were created with a Sizzix set; one of SIX! Sizzix sets I received for Christmas.  Being new to Sizzix, I am amazed at the intricacy and ease of using their layered dies.  I love the look! There may be a hope for me and flowers yet.  On a dark pink Stardream cardbase, I laid 3 black 1/4" strips, then on top I arranged the flowers and leaves.  The sentiment is die cut from gold Mirracard, and is from Savvy Stamps.  The final touch was several amber gemstones.

The Card Concept HOL21 {Christmas Tree, Holiday Decorations or Fav 2021 Card } Challenge

At The Card Concept this challenge, we are being asked to share our Christmas tree, decorations or favorite card.  I wasn't able to physically decorate this year but I would like to share a picture from 2020.  I live on the water in South Florida.  One of my dearest friends runs the beach every morning before sunrise.  Very early last Christmas morning, she came by my house and said she needed to show me something that would "put me in the spirit".  A sparkling sight in the early morning hours.  Some wonderful neighbor took the time to erect a Christmas tree, brightly lit with LEDs and an angel topper.  It was truly heartwarming and a memorable Christmas morning!

Card Concept #165 {Peace on Earth} Challenge!

This week at The Card Concept, we have a beautiful Christmas mantle as our photo inspiration. I can't make another "greenery" card so I decided to focus only on the PEACE sign in marquee lights.  I made a mixed media card featuring PEACE in a version of marquee. I distressed an A2 panel in Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.  I stamped a range of Tim Holtz pines in Versafine Onyx at the bottom of the card. Copic opaque white paint is splattered over the panel.  The panel was adhered to a black cardbase.  My Favorite Things PEACE was die cut, layered three times, and adhered. Mini crystal rhinestones were spaced and adhered to each letter to represent the marquee. The white embossed sub sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Holiday.

This week at The Card Concept, we are creating card based on the beautiful table decorations and warm colors in the photo inspiration.  I made a simple layered card using Stampinbella's Bundle Girl at the Pumpkin Patch.  The image is stamped and Copic colored.  The stamped sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's Celebrate the Fall.
