CASology Week 401: HAT

This month at CASology, the keyword is HAT!  I am still finishing up a box for donation to Cards for Cubs, sponsored by Bearly Art, supporting the foster care system. So I have made a fun cowboy birthday card! Cowboy hats are so fun!  Simple stamping and Copic coloring.  I masked off the original lasso so I could add the sentiment lasso.

CASology Week 398: ABOVE

Angels we have heard on high

Sweetly singing o'er the plains,

And the mountains in reply

Echoing their joyous strains.

The keyword this week at CASology is ABOVE, thus my angel!  As I have mentioned, in this final week before Christmas, carding making is all about using new and loved stamps and dies that I didn't have a chance to use during the hectic months of Christmas creation.  I managed to make 350 unique cards this year for our card ministry... and like every New Year, I hope to accomplish more in 2022.  

My angel is an old Karen Lockhart stamp, long unmounted and its name lost. The image is stamped and Copic colored on an A2 panel.  The stamped sentiment is from Savvy stamps.  The panel was trimmed with a Mama Elephant frame, All Prettied Up.  The final touch was several silver stars.

CASology Week 397: TYPE

This month at CASology, the keyword is TYPE.  Like many of the DT, I decided to move toward type as in typewriter.  However, I need Christmas cards so my card had to have this spin.   The typewriter die is from Savvy Stamps.  Using StazOn, I stamped two sentiments from Mama Elephant's Mini Merry Messages on vellum, and cut to fit the typewriter.  Since I rarely sit and type without coffee by my side (like now!), I created a holiday coffee cup using Essentials by Ellen Oh Frappe.  The cup is stamped, Copic colored and fussy cut.  Small holly leaves from Paper Smooches Tis the Season are stamped all over the cup in SSS Midnight Green, and dots of red Smooches Accents added.

CASology Week 396: VIEW

The keyword this week at CASology is VIEW.  The first definition I think of when thinking about view is a sight, often natural beauty.  Thus the landscape of Africa, but I tried to pull the sentiment in as well using a second definition of view as in perspective.  The landscape is from Impression Obsession, stamped and distressed with Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemon.  The stamped sentiment is from Amuse Artstamps, Come Fly with Me.

***Given the rising cost of Neenah, I have decided to start coloring on A2 panels of 80lb Neenah, then affix the panel to a card base of 120lb Accent.  This new heavyweight cardstock, which I first saw on a video from Jennifer McGuire, is a perfect cardbase at $9.99/ream.  Note that you can't just switch Accent for Neenah, Accent is not copic friendly.  So forgive me if I am not being as CAS as usual.***

CASology Week 395: ONE

The keyword this week at CASology is ONE.  I made a baby card featuring a Onesie and a sentiment using the keyword One.  The die cuts are from My Favorite Things Bundle of Baby Clothes, cut from scrap white and Memory Box cardstock.  The center onesie is finished with a button brad.  The sentiment is from Savvy Stamps.

CASology Week 394: MASK

The keyword this week at CASology is MASK.  I used the word MASK in two ways on my card. Literally my pirate (from My Favorite Things Party Like a Pirate) is wearing an eye patch/mask, and the images were masked in order to create depth with the parrot and trunk.  The one-layer card was stamped and Copic-colored.  Small accents were add with a POSCA white acrylic pen.

CASology Week 393: PARK

The keyword at CASology this week is PARK.  Immediately I thought of the dog park.  I would hate to count up how many hours I have spent at various dog parks over my life... but I do know that the hours spent in dog parks are some of the best hours in my life.  I have loved each one of my dogs and have always been willing to spend a couple hours each day at the park (maybe not during the Northeast winters).  Except for my current doodle, Archie, all of my goldens and doodles have loved to play ball.  My card reflects my dog, their ball, and how they make me feel.

The "ground" is distressed in Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron; grass from Savvy Stamps is stamped in SSS Fern.  The images are stamped and Copic-colored and from Mama Elephant's Playful Pups.  The sentiment is white embossed and from Paper Smooches' Group Hugs.

CASology Week 392: STRENGTH

The keyword this week at CASology is STRENGTH.  I think "strength" and I think of all the people I know battling cancer.  As someone who has been battling cancer for a number of years, I have gotten to know and marvel at so many cancer patients who fight continually for the smallest aspects of normalcy each day.  I used one of my favorite sets, Impression Obsession Cancer Sucks.  The images are stamped and copic colored, yielding a one-layer card.
