Double D Hot Beverages and FUSION Gingerbread

Like everyone else, I am in the throes of getting everything ready for Christmas.  The Double D and FUSION challenges this week were perfect!  We are making cards featuring HOT BEVERAGES (I chose coffee) and GINGERBREAD MEN.  I made two Christmas cards for my oncology nurses.  I added a gift card enclosure inside each card for a Starbucks gift card... the card will accompany latte candles I made earlier this month.  Thanks for two great challenges.

Color Throwdown #718, The Four Seasons November Anything Goes, and Double D Thankful~Blessings~Grateful Challenge

This week at Color Throwdown, we are working with the colors cranberry, gray, yellow gold and rust. I used a favorite set from Concord & 9th to create a fall thank you for a crafty friend who sent me a fabulous advent calendar from Spellbinders.  I can't wait to open a box on the 1st!

Double "D" Party Balloons Challenge

We are celebrating Double D"s 6th anniversary. Congratulations! To celebrate, the theme is PARTY BALLOONS.  I used a image from My Favorite Things Sweet Celebrations featuring SIX balloons!  The image is stamped, Copic colored, and die cut.  The image is foam mounted on a card base of Memory Box cloud DSP.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Birthday, and stamped on a flat bottom cloud from My Favorite Things.

Double D Challenge Lots of WHITE

This week at Double D, we are creating cards with LOTS of white.  I made a Christmas thank you.  The card base is arctic Stardream embossed with the new 3D Simon Says Stamp Scandinavian EF.  The sentiment, from Penny Black Many Thanks, is die cut and layered 3x.  The central flower, from Poppystamps Stitched Poinsettia Trio, is die cut and each layer is foam mounted over a coil of May Arts crystal cord.  Several sprigs of die cut mistletoe, from Simply Graphic, are interspersed. The final touch is several pearls for the poinsettia center.

Double D Christmas JOY Challenge

At Double D this week, the mood board features the word JOY, as well as lots of black and red buffalo check. My card features a panel of black and red buffalo check adhered to a red card base with several additional elements. The Memory Box Frostyville Wreath is die cut from gold Mirracard. Savvy Stamps JOY is die cut and layered 3x, the edges are painted with a gold paint Sharpie. The white embossed sub sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Holiday.  Lots of small gold embellishments (e.g., stars, dots, sequins, etc) were added as a final touch.

Double D - A Walk In The Woods Challenge

At Double D this week, we are working with a mood board featuring critters who inhabit the woods.  Since I am only making Christmas cards now, I needed to make my woodland critter Christmas-y.  My bear is from Neat and Tangled Beary Merry, Copic colored, and fussy cut, along with a couple of Christmas extras.  All of these images are foam mounted on my "woods" scene.  On a kraft card base, Alexandra Renke's Birch Forest was stenciled.  Copic opaque white paint was splattered as snow.  Over the card base, die cut kraft trees from Honey Bee and a grassy base from My Favorite Things were added.  The sentiment is gold embossed.

Double D Owls or Pumpkins Challenge

Today at Double D, we are creating cards with OWLS or PUMPKINS.  I really wanted to just play.  I have a Simon Says Stamp Jack O' Lanterns stencil with numerous pumpkin faces, bodies and stems.  I wondered, however, if I could make a CAS card with just the pumpkin faces.  On a favorite Hero Arts orange cardstock, I stenciled 16 pumpkin faces in Black Soot. In the middle of the card, I added a simple Savvy Stamp sentiment, white embossed on black.  Fun and easy!

Double D Challenge & Alphabet Challenge -- Leaves

At the Double D and the Alphabet Challenge this week, the keyword is LEAVES.  I made a fall card using My Favorite Things Autumn Wreath.  The sentiment from Technique Tuesday Celebrate the Fall was white embossed on a brown card base.  An A2 panel was distressed in greens and oranges then spritzed with Heidi Swapp's gold spray.  From this panel, the oak leaves for the wreath were die cut.  A circle was die cut from a piece of Stampin' Up Textured Wood patterned paper, then mounted on the card base.  The oak leaves were arranged and adhered around the die cut circle. Finally gold May Arts cord was tied around the top of the card.

Double D Challenge - Anything With A Tail Challenge

This week at Double D, we are creating cards that incorporate a TAIL of any kind.  I am all about the tail in my card.  I clear embossed a mermaid's tail on a distressed background (Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers) flecked with gesso.  The set used is Essentials by Ellen Mermaid's Tail.

Double D Challenges Fruits & Vegetables

This week at the Double D challenge, we are creating cards focused on Fruits and Vegetables.  I created a thank you card using the vegetables and sentiment from Paper Smooches Vegtastic.  All the images are stamped, Copic-colored and fussy cut.  The veggies are arranged on a watercolor splattered panel atop a silver Mirracard shopping cart from Paper Smooches.
