Christmas Kickstart Challenge #68 - Trees, Trees, Trees!

This month at Christmas Kickstart, we are working with TREES!  To make this 5x7 tree, I used a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire last week at her online class, Holiday Card Workshop 2022. Jennifer calls the technique Faux Laser Cut.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #67 - Poinsettias and Posies & Peace on Earth Challenge #26

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are making cards featuring Poinsettias and or Posies.  I actually had to Google posy!  Live and learn.  I am combining this challenge with Peace on Earth where the mood board features lots of red and green foliage! I used a coverplate from last year, doubling up on the petals for more texture.  I also used a free product from Scrapbook.com called Pops of Color... reminded me a lot of Stickles glitter glue.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #66 - Home for the Holidays

This week at Christmas Kickstart, the theme is HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.  I thought it would be a great time to try Purple Onion's Holiday Home, background stamp. One layer card with lots of coloring!!! I chose to add Santa and his sleigh, but no sentiment.  The coloring felt like enough to me.  I should mention that this stamp is huge and would easily cover a 5x7" card.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #60 - Snowflakes are Winter's Butterflies

This week at Christmas Kickstart, the theme is Snowflakes are Winter's Butterflies.  I used a fairly new stencil from Simon Says Stamp.  At Christmas, I bought a number of these borderless stencils from Simon Says an Pretty Pink Posh.  I adhered the stencil to the card base with Pixie spray.  WOW...does Pixie work well!  Look how clean the lines are...  The sentiment was built from two die sets, layered and backed with vellum.  Easy peasy.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #59 - The Sentiment takes Center Stage

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are featuring prominent sentiments on our Christmas cards.  My sentiment is an old Hero Arts red rubber stamp which I just can't part with.  All the critters are stamped, Copic colored and fussy cut. The background snow was created by swiping the edge of my card with Versamark and white embossing.

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are creating RAINBOW Christmas cards.  I made a simple one layer card.  NYC was stamped and masked, then a rainbow of distress inks was brushed up behind the buildings.  Final stamped touch was Santa and the sentiment.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #56 - Christmas Snippets & Alphabet Challenge

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are creating cards with Christmas Snippets.  What is a snippet?  It is all those little bits of designer paper we save because we don't want to waste or part with it.  The Alphabet Challenge this week is P for Patterned Paper, so I will be combining the two challenges.  In making this card, I was amazed how much scrap designer paper I have saved.  Also I don't seem to have a rule like nothing smaller than 2x2", I save all the tiny little strips!  I chose Tim Holtz' Santa's Helper dies because it required so many bits of paper (and it is a NBUS set for me). Decorative edges are die cuts from Poppystamps Tailored Stitches. The white embossed sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp's Tabbed Holiday Sentiments.  Also I added a few wood veneer stars that I have been hoarding!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #55 - Make One for a Loved One

I love the theme this month at Christmas Kickstart... we are making cards for loved ones.  These are those special cards that take a bit more time, might be especially beautiful and unlikely to fit a challenge.  Such a great idea for a challenge!  My card is very graphic.  I took a wide variety of scrap black, gray and silver papers and cut each into an isosceles triangle, each one a bit different in size, to represent a forest of trees. The center "tree" was embossed with a background plate from Papertrey Ink on opal Stardream cardstock.  The tree was embellished with small rhinestones and a bronze heart.  Transparent snowflake sequins were also added.  The forest is mounted on a white woodgrain card base and tied with silver May Arts cord.  A simple, white embossed sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, Tiny Words Christmas was the final addition.

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are creating FUNNY Christmas cards.  I used the too funny Tim Holtz' Snarky Cats set.  The image is Copic-colored and adhered to the kraft card base atop a selection of scrap papers.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #53 - Photo Inspiration

This week at Christmas Kickstart, we are working with an an amazing PHOTO for inspiration.  The photo is packed with options, but I am following Hillary and working with the metallic ornament wreath in the center bottom of the photo.  I used Simon Says Stamp Ring Wreath; die cutting the wreath five times.  Once from white cardstock, adhering the outline on the 5"x5" card base, and four times from blue, green, pink and silver Mirracard.  I randomly inlaid the Mirracard circles in the ring outline.  The stamped sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Tis the Season Sentiments. The final touch was a bow of hot pink chiffon ribbon from May Arts.

Retro Rubber Challenge 162 | Sketches! & Christmas Kickstart Challenge #52 - Woolly or Fluffy or Furry!

This week at Retro Rubber we are working with a SKETCH; making cards with a central, boxed circular image with a rectangular banner under the circle.  I combined the sketch with the theme at Christmas Kickstart this week: WOOLLY, FLUFFY or FURRY.  

I saw WOOLLY and immediately thought of several very old stamps from Memory Box (circa 2000?).  I remember sitting in the back of a long closed stamp shop coloring these adorable sheep with Dave Brethauer.  The sheep are stamped and Copic-colored, the circle is edged in Delicate silver, and a few "ice" swirls are covered in Stickles. The image is mounted on cardstock from Memory Box and Amuse Artstamps.  The snowflake banner (2015) is die cut from silver Mirracard, and is from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment is also from Memory Box.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #51 - The Stockings were hung by the Chimney with Care

I had a lot of fun with the card for Christmas Kickstart this week.  Th theme is HANGING THE STOCKINGS.  I created a stocking from Memory Box' Eyelet Stocking dies and stamped a sentiment from Paper Smooches Holly Jolly set. The stocking is set on a smattering of scrap Christmas papers, a button brad creates a hanger, and green sequins finish the card.
