TIME OUT Challenge 255 - Inspired by Words

Time Out is challenging us to use the quote: "Winter solitude - in a world of one color, the sound of wind."  From the quote, I focused on a solitary snowman, leaned toward one color -- white, and added windy snowdrifts. My card has an inside shaker.  I created a small acetate packet of glitter which I adhered inside the card with scortape.  I should mention that the sentiment is stamped within the card as well, and nicely visible from the heart cutout. 

I will also submit this card over at CAS on Friday who is also looking for winter cards.

CAS on Friday Challenge #237 - Enamel dots

This week at CAS on Friday, we are working with ENAMEL DOTS.  I actually do not own any enamel dots and decided to make some.  I made the enamel dots from pony beads. I baked beads, vertically, on parchment paper for 30 minutes @ 285°. The pony beads melt into perfect little domes. There are a number of Youtube videos on the process. From there I made a very CAS flower card.

The keyword this week at CAS on Friday is BUTTERFLIES.  I wanted to try my hand at something nontraditional... quilling.  Using my stylus and thin strips of paper, I rolled and "squished" to make the shapes for my butterfly.  Although clean and simple... a lot of time spent rolling and gluing!

CAS on Friday Challenge #223 | Hexagon

Hi! I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer for CAS on Friday this week.  The keyword is HEXAGON.  I immediately thought of a honeycomb design.  To make my simple one layer card, I stenciled bees from Funky Fossil Designs on the bottom third of my card in Wild Honey and Mustard Seed. Over the bees, I stamped the sentiment from Papertrey Ink. Finally I embossed the card front using a Honeycomb stencil from Darice.  Easy peasy.

CAS on Friday Challenge #222 | Feel Better

This week at CAS on Friday, the theme is FEEL BETTER.  I love challenges that allow us to make practical cards.  I actually made three card for the challenge (my stash needs get well cards!).  I used a 1997(!) wood stamp from a manufacturer I can no longer read on the side of the block.  The soup can was stamped, Copic colored, fussy cut, and mounted on a black card base.  The white embossed sentiment is from Amuse Artstamps.

CAS on Friday Challenge # 221 | Happy New Year

The keyword this week at CAS on Friday is HAPPY NEW YEAR!  You can tell I did a bit of clean up this week in my craft room.  I pulled out a product I haven't heard mentioned in a while -- Perfect Pearls.  On a black cardbase, I stamped several of My Favorite Things Fireworks several times with Versamark Ink, with each stamping I dusted on a Perfect Pearl color (purple, pink, green and blue).  I sealed the Perfect Pearls with a dusting of water.  I die cut Poppystamps' Happy New Year from silver glitter cardstock (hard to see in this photo), and adhered the letters in the middle of the fireworks.

CAS on Friday Challenge #220 | Christmas

This week at CAS on Friday, the keyword is CHRISTMAS.  As I have mentioned, in this final week before Christmas, carding making is all about using new and loved stamps and dies that I didn't have a chance to use during the hectic months of Christmas creation.  I managed to make 350 unique cards this year for our card ministry... and like every New Year, I hope to accomplish more in 2022.  

The card base is embossed with Alexandra Renke's Snowfall folder.  The images are stamped, Copic colored, die cut, and foam mounted.  All are from My Favorite Things new set, Stuffed Santa.  The stamped sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tabbed Sentiments Holiday.  The final touch was a line of crystal Stickles along the base of the presents to ground the scene.
