The Flower Challenge #77 and Colorful Options February

For the first challenge of 2023 at the The Flower Challenge, we are working with our Christmas goodies! Layered stencils are one of my favorite backgrounds.  This one is from Altenew... I left off the stems and leaves to focus more on the pink! Given it sooo PINK, I am submitting it to Colorful Options as well.

Wishing you a fabulous New Year filled with lots of floral mojo!

The Flower Challenge #73 Use a Sentiment & 6th Birthday

I made this card over a week ago and forgot to publish the post... I can't tell you how often that happens. I am rarely attracted to a prize but I love Stampingbella stamps!  Given it is The Flower Challenge's 6th Birthday (I can't believe the challenge is six years old!), I made a birthday card for a dear friend.

Enjoy!

The Flower Challenge #69 Color Blue & Yellow

This month at the Flower Challenge, we continue to keep the Ukrainians in our thoughts and prayers.  We are creating cards in BLUE and YELLOW, the colors of the Ukraine flag.  I made my card for a very special woman in Poland.  The sister of a friend here in Florida who is doing everything she can physically to help.  Currently she is hosting 40 Ukrainian women and children at her home in Poland.  Her sister laughs when she tells me how the household is getting on... given the visitors do not know Polish, and my friend's sister does not know Ukrainian. But the card and the donations I have been able to raise in the neighborhood will be greatly appreciated.  There is something special about giving when you feel you know the recipient.  Thank you for the challenge!

Enjoy!

FUSION - Turquoise Rose Bouquet & The Flower Challenge #66 Use Scraps

This week at FUSION, we have a fabulous turquoise and gold flower arrangement to inspire us.  For my card, I recreated a turquoise trio of flowers with gold leaves.  One twist, The Flower Challenge this month asked us to use scraps in our creations.  I have been holding onto a spray dyed sheet of cardstock for some time that I decided to use as my flower base.  I had sprayed white cardstock with greens, blues and gold...the final result being a lovely shade of shimmering turquoise.

Enjoy.

The Flower Challenge #65 Occasions & Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #538

This month at The Flower Challenge, we are making flower cards for an "occasion", like birthday, wedding or anniversary.  I liked the card and decided to submit to Cupcake Inspiration's Anything Goes challenge.  This is a simple stenciled card, lots of masking, in bright colors.  Completed by a layered birthday sentiment die cut and a stamped sub-sentiment.

The Flower Challenge #64 Monochrome

This month at the The Flower Challenge, we are creating MONOCHROME cards.  In other words, I can make a black and white card and it would be acceptable.  So many months I am intimidated by the entries and fail to enter because my coloring or watercoloring skills are not up to snuff relative to so many of the amazing entries.  However, I can do black and white!  I used only one set, Simon Says Stamp Summer Garden.  I began by making 3 masks for each of the images I used.  I then randomly stamped and masked an A2 panel in Momento Black Tuxedo filling in around the larger flowers with smaller images.  I wanted to make the panel dense.  The white embossed sentiment is from the same set, stamped on black and mounted.

Enjoy!

AAA Birthday Cards Game #28 - Photo Inspiration, and The Flower Challenge #59 Use a Die (Option of Slimline card)

I loved the PHOTO inspiration this week over at AAA Birthday Cards.  I focused in on the subtle, blue, undulating frosting, and the beautiful pink flowers with bits of yellow mixed in.  I am combining this card with The Flower Challenge where we are using dies and slimline cards this month. For my card, the background was die cut from Papertrey Ink's banner coverplate twice in order to cover the slimline card base; the blue banners feel like the frosting.  The flowers are from My Favorite Things Floral Focus; Copic-colored,  die cut, and adhered to the card base.  The white embossed sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Birthday Messages.  The final touch was translucent sequins.

Enjoy!

The Flower Challenge #58 Add Spots or Stripes

This month at
The Flower Challenge, we are being challenged to add SPOTS or STRIPES to our flower cards.  I decided to make a striped background. Using four shades of pink, I cut 1/8" stripes using The Stamp Market's Quick Strips. I covered an A2 panel with Scortape and laid the strips side by side. After trimming the striped panel, I die cut Poppystamps Grand Luxe Poinsettia background from the panel. A poinsettia in dark pink was inlaid in the die cut.  The Grand Luxe Poinsettia outline was die cut from pink Mirracard and affixed. The poinsettia was finished with a large pearl from Reflections.  The white embossed sentiment is from Memory Box Christmas Botanicals.

Enjoy.

The Flower Challenge #57 CAS

This month at The Flower Challenge, our cards are featuring CAS (Clean & Simple) florals.  I love how this mini shaker turned out.  I die cut Paper Rose's Little Foliage Circle from my A2 base card.  Reinserted and secured the die cut into the open circle created by the original cut. The open die cut was then backed with a transparency. A separate A2 white panel was covered in Scortape, and in the area where the open die cut would appear, I sprinkle microfine glitter in red, orange and yellow over the tape.  The panel, already covered in Scortape, adhered easily to the back of the card base.  So neat and easy!  No glittery mess.  I love it.  As a final touch I added a white embossed sentiment from Simon Says Tiny Words Birthday.

Enjoy.
