FUSION - Christmas Chalkboard

I can not believe this is the last FUSION challenge I am going to enter.  I want to thank the design team for all your warm and encouraging comments... and your amazing inspiration each challenge. So for the last challenge, I focused on the predominately black and white image, and the myriad of Christmas words (though I questioned basketball?!).  I stamped my sentiment block with Versafine Onyx... the stamping was perfect.  I am amazed. Rather than "chalk" the image, I decided to leave as is and add a small white border.  BTW... the sentiment is straight, I just photographed it wonky.

Double D Hot Beverages and FUSION Gingerbread

Like everyone else, I am in the throes of getting everything ready for Christmas.  The Double D and FUSION challenges this week were perfect!  We are making cards featuring HOT BEVERAGES (I chose coffee) and GINGERBREAD MEN.  I made two Christmas cards for my oncology nurses.  I added a gift card enclosure inside each card for a Starbucks gift card... the card will accompany latte candles I made earlier this month.  Thanks for two great challenges.

FUSION - Kitchen

This week at FUSION, we are being inspired by a kitchen photo.  I focused 1) on the predominance of white, with bits of green and orange, 2) the scrollwork on the cabinet, and 3) pumpkins.  I made a very CAS card for Thanksgiving.

FUSION - Pinwheels

This week at FUSION, I am playing along with the photo inspiration.  When I looked at the photo through the haze of just having cataract surgery done (seriously)... I saw a maze of umbrellas, not pinwheels.  Those of you who have been in NYC on a rainy day know the scene I am describing. I decided to follow the haze and recreate the maze of umbrellas in the photo's key colors of blue and yellow.

FUSION - Color Palette: Seagull Beach

This week at FUSION, the photo inspiration features seagulls on a soft palette of colors in the sky and sea. I sprayed scrap cardstock with soft Distress colors and Heidi Swapp metallics to create my background. I decided the scene didn't require the full A2 card base so I trimmed the panel and mounted it on white wood grain cardstock.

This week at Freshly Made Sketches, we are working with Jacquie's CAS sketch to the left.  I don't usually add patterned paper, preferring white instead, but this Christmas paper made my small elves pop.  BTW... you really need the outline dies for these elves... fussy cutting is time consuming!

FUSION - Rainbow Plates

This week at FUSION, we are working with RAINBOWS.  I took more away from the photo inspiration than just rainbow colors.  I love the pastels and was intrigued with the idea of food in rainbow colors.  I started thinking ice cream and the myriad of colors that it comes in.  Of course, I am on a major diet and would love a bit of ice cream... but that is not in the plan.  I settled on an ice cream card.  Also I just recently took the Spring Card Camp class. We worked on our wreath making skills and I have tried to incorporate lessons learned here.  I laugh because my cone is from a cone border and only one cone was whole in the border so the cone was lovingly die cut numerous times.  The ice cream was Copic-colored and finished with a bit of crystal Stickles.

FUSION - Turquoise Rose Bouquet & The Flower Challenge #66 Use Scraps

This week at FUSION, we have a fabulous turquoise and gold flower arrangement to inspire us.  For my card, I recreated a turquoise trio of flowers with gold leaves.  One twist, The Flower Challenge this month asked us to use scraps in our creations.  I have been holding onto a spray dyed sheet of cardstock for some time that I decided to use as my flower base.  I had sprayed white cardstock with greens, blues and gold...the final result being a lovely shade of shimmering turquoise.

FUSION - Coffee Chalkboard & The Paper Players PP575

This week at The Paper Players, Jaydee has asked us to create a card featuring a sketch using the top one-third of our cards with a sentiment underneath.  Oh...so CAS! I love it.  I combined this sketch with the photo inspiration at FUSION.  This week at FUSION, the photo features a chalkboard covered in "coffee" sayings.  I focused, however, on the table top below the chalkboard with its croissant, sugar and coffee.  I made a one-layer card... my favorite.  I stamped, masked and Copic colored a plate of toast, jam jar and a coffee cup from the Hellmuth set. With the coloring complete, all the images were masked and the top third of the card distressed in Hickory Smoke (to resemble a chalky look).  The sentiment was stamped below.  The card is a bit different but I really like it!
