Christmas Card Throwdown February Sketch Challenge

Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to use the sketch above.   This was a difficult sketch for me.  I had created the layout first for the card base, thinking I would add different images to the circles...but the images didn't fit.  So I added my go-to small Christmas images... Mama Elephant's Little Elves.

Enjoy!

Christmas Card Throwdown January Technique Challenge

Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to incorporate SEWING into our cards.  I used the gingerbread plushy above and wove twine through the sewing holes.

NOTE I missed the submission time for the challenge... unbelievably no internet! How did we live without the internet?

Enjoy

52 Christmas Card Throwdown January Sketch Challenge

It is a new year over at Christmas Card Throwdown, and we are working with the sketch to the left.  I created a sweet Christmas pudding with the bow as my "doo dad" in the corner.

Enjoy.

Christmas Card Throwdown December Technique Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a CAS Christmas card.  I actually made a New Year card with VERY OLD wood rubber stamps.  I unmounted all of my rubber stamps so I can't report who manufactured these two stamps.  I thought their simple combination made a cute card.  The card is stamped and Copic colored.

Be sure to drop by and see the inspiration cards made by all the design team members and leave them some love!

Enjoy.  I can't wait to see your creations in the gallery.

Christmas Card Throwdown December Color Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a card using the colors PURPLE and either silver or GOLD.  I embossed the background of this card in gold, added a subtle purple sentiment, and a standout gold Mirracard ornament diecut, and finally a satin purple ribbon that does not quite match but looks good.

Christmas Card Throwdown December Sketch Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a card using the sketch to the left. I made an A2, rather than a square, card. I find mailing square cards just too difficult (i.e., making an envelope, adding extra postage).  I started with beautiful patterned paper from Paper Rose and went from there adding elements.

Be sure to drop by and see the inspiration cards made by all the design team members and leave them some love!

Enjoy.  I can't wait to see your creations in the gallery.

Christmas Card Throwdown November Technique Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a SHAPED CARD.  I used a new Sizzix die to create shaped gingerbread house with a fun fold.  I put a "hidden" sentiment behind the door which is visible when you pull on the front door. Note this is still a card, the fun fold gingerbread house is adhered to an A2 card base.

Be sure to drop by and see the inspiration cards made by all the design team members and leave them some love!

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to create a WINTER COUNTRYSIDE on our cards. I used a folksy background die; die cutting the elements from several different papers and inlaying the pieces on a distress background.  No embellishments, just a popped up simple sentiment.

Christmas Card Throwdown November Color Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a card using the colors KRAFT, BLACK and WHITE.  A couple interesting
things about this card.  The kraft is dyed kraft (grocer) paper.  I tried to find again on the internet to link but was unable.  I ordered a pack of grocer kraft and it came dyed one side in green, maroon, blue and plum. The other side of the paper is the standard kraft brown. (See picture above.) Great product...wish I could find it again. So the trees are die cut and popped up with foam tape, as is the white embossed sentiment.  The card is splattered with snow (white paint) and embellished with small 5mm stars.  Love these stars and have linked below.

Be sure to drop by and see the inspiration cards made by all the design team members and leave them some love!

Enjoy.  I can't wait to see your creations in the gallery.

Christmas Card Throwdown October Technique Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to make a SHAKER CARD.  Although I made a slimline card for the challenge, this stocking die would make a great tag! To make the shaker, I simply layered four die cuts (rather than try to add foam tape). The mast of the stocking is a small piece of red suede (the last from my stash!) which adds texture.

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to use the theme CHRISTMAS CUP on our cards.  I made a pop-up Christmas coffee cup which serves to hold a Starbucks gift card.  I made three cards to hand out to folks over the holidays.  The front of the card is not special...just DSP and a sentiment die cut.

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to use the colors RED AND BROWN on our cards.  My card looks like a simple package with string and a stamp. I began by embossing kraft paper with snowflakes then wrapping the paper around an A2 panel of cardboard, tying with string, and then adhering to my card base.

Christmas Card Throwdown September Technique Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to USE A STENCIL on our cards.  I absolutely love layering stencils and used Concord & 9th's holly wreath.  The same stencils also make a frame as well. The sentiment is stamped and embossed. Dots of white paint were added to the berries for dimension.  The A2 panel was trimmed vertically and adhered to a card base with black striped washi.

Christmas Card Throwdown September Color Challenge

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to USE THE COLORS Brown, Green and Blue on our cards.  I have to admit I felt challenged... this was not an easy color combination for me.  Although I did not technically use brown, I think the color appears with the clear embossed image on kraft. The pine needles were splattered with white paint to resemble snow. The sentiment is layered 3x atop vellum.  The bow was assembled with foam tape giving the card a good deal of dimension.

Be sure to drop by and see the inspiration cards made by all the design team members and leave them some love!

This week,
Christmas Card Throwdown is challenging us to USE EMBOSSING FOLDERS on our cards.  This is a simple card.  I embossed the design on matte silver cardstock, trimmed, and mounted the embossed panel on metallic cardstock.  I rubbed black ink over the design to add further definition. To finish, I added a foiled die cut, and a beaded cord.
