Join us! It is WORD week at Just Us Girls. Bobby is challenging us to draw inspiration from the word "EMBOSS " in our card creations this week.
I immediately decided to make a card with cherries when I saw the word "emboss." I own the cute Concord and 9th cherry embossing folder and was excited to use it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the EF to emboss with any depth, so the small cherry background was almost invisible. I attempted to color each set of cherries, but the lack of depth made them difficult to see. I tried shims but could not produce a usable card base. So disappointing.
I had to rethink the word emboss. I swiveled and decided to focus on heat embossing. Using pigment ink, I stamped the sentiment and then heat-embossed it. You forget how clean heat embossing makes stamping. The sentiment just pops. I also embossed the red gingham card base with a criss-cross border and mounted the die-cut sentiment. I added several sets of die-cut cherries to the base, as well as a small stamped sentiment (giving the card purpose). I made half a dozen for my stash.
