Just Us Girls #773 -- DIE Week

Join us! It is
DIE week at Just Us Girls.  Bobby is challenging us to use FLOWER dies in our card creations this week.   I love flower dies so this is an easy challenge.  I used a floral coverplate die that requires piecing together.  Couple notes on this Concord & 9th die.  One, this die requires a lot of paper.  The cuts are large and irregular.  The flowers were easy enough to die cut with scraps, but the background and leaves require A2 panels of colored cardstock.  Second, this cover looks like simple piecing but it is not that clean.  The piecing works best if you assemble and secure with washi, then adhere to the card base. I made four duplicates; on my first card I tried assembling the pieces on a card base covered with Scortape.  I found the piecing was not as tight as I would like.

To finish, I added gold dot stamen and a vellum-backed, layered sentiment.  I really like the end result as a clean and simple card.

Your colors are great Elizabeth and the clean look with this die was worth the effort. I just got this die recently and I read that starting on the left bottom corner and moving up, then right helps. Fabulous card!

Elizabeth, you might want to try making a 'jig' by embossing the die onto white card. I found it worked a charm - and find YOUR creation as charming as can be with the variety of greens/aqua and gold dots!

It was worth all of the work that you put in, Elizabeth! It's so vibrant and cheerful!

I can only imagine how difficult piecing that die together is if the first piece isn't square, Elizabeth. So glad you kept going and learned the secret because this brightly colored beauty was worth it.
