Join us! It is SKETCH week at The Paper Players. Joanne is challenging us to create a card that uses the sketch above. As many of you know, I spend a lot of time figuring out how to make sketches CAS. This week is no exception.
First, I flipped the sketch to accomodate my "shape", a sentiment Christmas tree. On a white A2 panel, I embossed stitch lines to represent the banner flags in the sketch, then die cut the tree. I die cut the tree six more times from six cardstocks (three shades of red and three shades of green). I lined the back of the white A2 panel with scortape, and adhered the panel to the card base, then inlaid the letters into the design. I had enough letters to make six cards. The final touch, aligned with the sketch, was to add some gold splatter. I used IULE watercolors... wow! love the "gold-ness" of these paints. They really sparkle. The photo does not do the sparkle justice.

Enjoy! I am looking forward to your inspired creations in the gallery.

Elizabeth, WOW! I love how you flipped the sketch and kept it cleaner and simpler. Using embossed stitch lines to represent the banners is ingenious. The sentiment tree with its colorful inlaid letters makes the perfect focal point. Have a wonderful week!
Elizabeth, I love how you used the embossed stitch lines for your banners. So creative. The inlaid letters are so impressive and I am certain time consuming. But the effort is so effective. Fabulous! Have a great week, My Friend!
What a gorgeous Christmas card, Elizabeth, and I love how you inlaid the letters--such a beautiful effect but I know it's time consuming! I love how you CAS-ified the sketch and the gold splats are so fun!
