Join us! It is SKETCH week at The Paper Players. Joanne is challenging us to create a card that uses the sketch below. As many of you know, I struggle with sketch and color challenges. With sketches, I am not good about adding layers, I much prefer an one-layer card. So basically, this sketch calls for a three layer sentiment centered in the middle of the card. I picked some vibrant, watercolored DSP in my stash... I made six cards after cutting full-size scrapbook sheets. I used a STAX die to cut A2 panels and embellish the edges.
I decided to try something a bit fancy for the bottom sentiment layer. I diecut a lace border from black cardstock. When die cutting, I lined the back of the cardstock with a dryer sheet so all the bits and pieces would remain in place. I thoroughly glued the border and its bits and pieces to the DSP panel. On top of the border, I added a white embossed sentiment strip lined with silver mirracard.
1. Create a new paper project
Enjoy! I am looking forward to your inspired creations in the gallery.

Elizabeth I love that bold background watercolour paper so much I'd have forgiven you any kind of layering/non-layering of sentiment - how fabulous!
Absolutely love that patterned paper, Elizabeth! Cheers, Jolanda
OOH, that patterned paper is super! You couldn't go wrong with letting it shine and adding a sentiment as you've done. Anything more would be a waste of that wonderful watercolour look. Have a great week. :-)
Elizabeth, this watercolor paper is so bold and beautiful. The die cut behind the sentiment is a lovely detail. I love how this paper is the star of the show on this fun card. Have a wonderful week!
The colors in the background as well as that bold black panel with your little doodads behind it all add up to one striking card! Beautiful!
Elizabeth, I LOVE this floral paper!!! Do you know where you got it? WOW--gorgeous! The black lace border is so elegant. I love everything about this beauty!
That paper! My goodness, it is gorgeous and so perfect for this sketch, as it rightfully takes center stage! Love the addition of the fancy layer underneath the sentiment label. This is one stunning card, Elizabeth!
WOW, Elizabeth! This card is really "eye candy"!
