This week at Just Us Girls, we have a fascinating photo inspiration. The photo quickly said nautical red, white and blue to me. But as I started thinking about the card, I thought it might be fun to recreate the photo. This was actually not as easy as it might seem, but I love a good challenge. I began by creating the striped background using Ellen Hutson's Skinny Stripes. It took a bit to get them even (I use that term loosely!). Then I die cut the small blocks with nautical images of about the same size, inlaying the nautical images in the striped blocks. I sued Poppystamps Sailboats, the anchor from My Favorite Things World Traveler, and a double column of fishies from Mama Elephant's Fishbowl. The LOVE block was easier to create using letters from Memory Box' Classic Alphabet. Each square was then mounted on an A2 card base.
Enjoy.
