The Paper Players PP739 - A Sketch Challenge from LeAnne

Join us! It is SKETCH week at The Paper Players.  LeAnne is challenging us to create a card that uses the sketch above.

Like always, I struggled with this sketch.  Why do I have trouble with sketches? I made two designs for this sketch, then thanks to a card submitted for another challenge by a teammate... I saw the light.  Rather than layer, the layers can be objects reflecting a rectangular shape!

I decided to start making my 2025 Christmas cards, using three nutcrackers for my three rectangular objects.  I make about 500 Christmas cards for donation each year.  The nutcrackers above are Copic colored, fussy cut, and foam mounted atop a dark blue, A2 card base covered with white embossing paste snowflakes.  Final addition was a white embossed sentiment.

Check out our fabulous design team.  These ladies work hard to inspire you each week.  Drop by their blogs and leave them a little love.

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges in total.

Enjoy!  I am looking forward to your inspired creations in the gallery.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth, what a fabulous take on the sketch! I adore these handsome nutcrackers. I have a friend that collects them. She would cherish this card. Love all the bright colors and the snow falling behind them!

What an awesome interpretation of the sketch, Elizabeth! It's perfect! I also struggle with sketches, and have difficulty putting my own twist on them. You have done an amazing job making this one your own! What a great start to your holiday stash! Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

I would have never known that you struggled with the sketch, because these nutcrackers work perfectly for my "threes"!! Love the colors too! Thanks for making my sketch look great!

I'm so glad you were inspired to use the three nutcrackers, Elizabeth, they make a delightful Christmas card, especially against the bright navy background with the snow falling. And the sentiment made me giggle too. Darling card and great way to interpret the sketch!

How funny - sketches are my favourite (colour combos are my nemesis!!) but it's fair to say you aced this Elizabeth - those nutcrackers are totally on point!

Funny you say you struggled - it doesn't show! I like your out of the box thinking on this by having three strong vertical elements instead of panels. The nutcrackers are great although I'm slightly aghast at the thought of Christmas cards already! :-)

Elizabeth, I love that you took a different approach to the sketch and I am a sucker for a nutcracker! I love your vertical elements and how you colored them and great job fussy cutting. Love them!
