The Paper Players PP724 - A Color Challenge from LeAnne

Join us! It is COLOR week at The Paper Players.  LeAnne is challenging you to use the colors Summer Splash, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, and White in your card creations.  Of course, neutrals are allowed; white, black, gray and kraft. I used an Altenew daylily set gifted by a friend. I am not a big Altenew fan because I have not had luck with their products.

For this card, I embossed the flowers, stenciled, die cut, and embossed once more for a crisp image. I made four of the above cards, not one lined up correctly in the stencil.  And why can't we have one stencil for each color, and not rotate. I tend to use a Sharpie and fill in the break lines on the stencil with the hope that I won't stencil something I shouldn't.  I think the biggest frustration is with the stamen. The plastic was thin and broke on the first card.  I should have colored the stamen with a marker, and not trusted the stencil, for cleaner lines.  To add more texture to the flowers, I "dotted" the lily centers with like Copic colors and a white paint pen.  The image was mounted on an embossed background panel; a layered sentiment on vellum and gems were added to finish the card.

Check out our design team.  These ladies work hard to inspire you each week.  Drop by their blogs and leave them a little love.

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges in total.

Enjoy!  I am looking forward to your inspired creations in the gallery.

Elizabeth

Like Claire, the frustration in the lily creation is not obvious. In fact, I'd been admiring them from afar. Certainly the additional dotting you've done makes them even more magnificent. I do love that lush embossing folder too. I'm glad you liked my DT card. I'd not noticed it matched up to a future challenge because - secret- this is one of my go-to layouts when I'm struggling for inspiration! Have a great week!

Wow! This is a beautiful card, Elizabeth! The embossed background is gorgeous and so are the lilies. The dots add so much texture to the petals and are a great detail. You did a fabulous job showing off the challenge colors. Have a wonderful week!

Oh gosh, Elizabeth, your efforts were well worth it because this card is a stunner! Love the blend on the flowers and the gorgeous embossed background. I share your frustration with some stencils, not just Altenew's. The only way I found to work around the issue is to ink in just one direction if possible or use a tiny bit of removable adhesive on the back of the offending bit. Anyway, well done sticking with it, the lilies are gorgeous!
