Just Us Girls #764 -- ANYTHING GOES STENCIL Week

Join us! It is ANYTHING GOES STENCIL week at Just Us Girls.  Sue is challenging us to use a stencil in our card creations this week.   I used a new package from Taylored Expressions called Around Town.  I put off using the set for a bit because the stencils seemed daunting.  But after making four of the above card (all for donation), I feel comfortable. This design is directly from the Taylored Expressions website.  I chose to use one of their designs in order to master the stencils and possible colors.

First there is an 8.5 x 11" background stencil... this makes a map for you to work with on your card base.  This large stencil makes four card base at once.  Very handy for most card makers. For me, the stencil was not convenient to store so I cut it into four panels for better organization.

The stenciling works best with the images if you have some small blending brushes.  Some areas are quite small. The only area that ended up needing masking was the snowman's nose, which I drew in with a Copic.  I should mention that there are twice as many images as you see on this card.  So two cards could be made with all the images made from a complete inking of all the stencils.

The full set also comes with a background die that looks like a road.  I die cut it from Stardream aqua cardstock which is metallic and a bit shiny.  I think the die cut makes a nice frame, however, it is definitely not needed to make a good card.

To complete, I foam mounted all the images, added polymer clay snowflakes, Stickles for rooftop snow, and splatter with white paint.
