Just Us Girls #760 -- CASE A DESIGN TEAM MEMBER Week

Join us! It is CASE A DT week at Just Us Girls.  Carol Mc is challenging us to draw inspiration from one of the DT members' cards and copy and share everything.  CASE a Design Team [DT] member means it is your choice to CASE any DT's card in the JUGS post. [CASE = copy & share everything].  In a nutshell, use what inspires you from the card you choose, and create your own. There is such a selection from what the Team has created using anything goes for their creations.

If you need help in learning how to CASE a card, please check out Ardyth's post on her LIMES method.  CASEing others' work is a powerful learning tool enabling you to solidify your own style.

Initially I decided to play with some of the Poppystamps nordic dies.  I love this little gnome... though he does look a lot like Santa.  I layered a couple of the nordic borders on a Stardream metallic card base, then simply mounted the gnome and a layered sentiment.  The arms and legs of this little gnome are loose, I think a rainbow row of these gnomes would be cute.

The more I thought about the card, I realized that it is not very unique, and more a Christmas card than anything else.  I decided to try again to extend a Christmas die.  The second time around I chose C&9's Tree Inlay die.  Rather than use Christmas colors I die cut scraps of greens, and inlaid the trees into the negative.  I should note that this inlay process was not as easy as usual.  Usually I would line the negative piece with Scortape, and easily insert the pieces.  If you note, these trees have small trunks, and one tree has "dots". To avoid the frustration of trying to inlay these pieces, I traced the tree trunks on the card base, and copic colored.  After inlaying the trees, I filled the dots in with a green glitter paint.  With the forest feeling like a forest, I also foam mounted a couple of small gnomes that look like gnomes (rather than Santa) and a neutral sentiment.

This was a productive cardmaking session.  I made four of the "blue" card and eight of forest cards...all for donation.

Check out the design team.  These ladies work hard to inspire you each week.  Drop by their blogs and leave them a little love.
