The Paper Players PP708 - A Sketch Challenge from Joanne

Join us! It is SKETCH week at The Paper Players.  Joanne is challenging us to use the sketch above in our cards.   I struggled with this design.  I am not a "layers" person; I prefer to be a bit more CAS when possible.  I looked at this sketch and panicked.  The curved sentiment really made me scratch my head.  Finally I decided a layered curved sentiment would the job.  Layering the sentiment created the back "paper" and die cutting the primary sentiment in silver glitter cardstock made it pop.  I added a Tim Holtz Sizzix Santa for my "any shape" addition.

I did not make multiples of this card for charity... time caught up with me.

Check out our fabulous guest designers as well as the rest of the design team.  These ladies work hard to inspire you each week.  Drop by their blogs and leave them a little love.

Enjoy!  I am looking forward to your inspired creations in the gallery.

Elizabeth

What a creative take on the sketch, Elizabeth! Making the one "Merry" sparkly to mimic the trapezoid element of the sketch was sheer genius. Santa steals the show...as Santa should. What an amazing card!

I think you most definitely rose to the challenge of my sketch this week Elizabeth - this card is fabulous! I love the diecut sentiment background and the way you highlighted one, and the detail on Santa looks like a lot of work, but so, so worth it - FABULOUS!

Looking at your card I would have never thought you struggled with this sketch, Elizabeth! The fact is you killed it with your creative way of using the sparkly Merry to represent that vertical piece! And that Santa is super adorable. Well done!
