The COLORS this week at Color Throwdown are Pink, Grey and Mint. I love these colors in baby cards. Not till I started putting together this post did I realize that Lori and I used the same die. Our elephant is from Clean & Simple Stamps (defunct for awhile now). I love that Lori and I used the same die, the same colors, the same theme, and still managed to come up with different cards.
I used Memory Box patterned paper and a My Favorite Things Stitched Scalloped Frame for the card base. The stamped sentiment is from My Favorite Things Essential Sentiments. My elephant has been die cut from grey cardstock and embossed with a Darice checkered embossing folder. A small circle of scrap grey cardstock was die cut and folded for the elephant's ear. A black acrylic dot was used for the eye (see below). The last touch is a heart from Ellen Hutson's Folk Hearts, embossed with Alexandra Renke's Snowfall embossing folder.
For the eye, I made the acrylic dots from pony beads. Bake vertical beads on parchment paper for 30 minutes @ 285°. Pony beads melt into perfect little domes. There are a number of You Tube videos on the process.
Enjoy.
