Just Us Girls #771 -- MOODBOARD Week

Join us! It is
MOODBOARD week at Just Us Girls.  I am your host and challenging you to incorporate inspiration from the moodboard above in your cards this week. There is so much to choose from! Birthdays, Easter eggs, Babies!, Rainbows...and more.  As I stared at the pictures, I remembered that I had DSP that featured rows of Easter eggs.  I didn't have much... enough to make three, half A2 panels. The silhouette die cut was shadowed with a matching green layer, and foam mounted to the cardbase in order to make the scene stand out a bit better against the DSP.  A simple stamped sentiment was added. The final touch was a bit of gold splatter with
gouache.

Check out our fabulous guest designer for April, Wanda Cullen. Please welcome her and check out her fabulous work over at Cullen-ary Creations

Join us! It is COLOR week at The Paper Players.  Stef is challenging you to use the colors PURPLE, YELLOW,  AQUA, and GREEN in your card creations.  Of course, neutrals are allowed; white, black, gray and kraft.  I used a simple layering stencil from a new EU company that I am loving... A Pocketful of Happiness. To finish, I added a layered sentiment mounted on vellum, and purple pearls.

As always, I made multiples for donation.  I made six additional background panels and will add sentiments as needed.

Just Us Girls #770 -- WORD Week

Join us! It is
WORD week at Just Us Girls.  Carol Mc is challenging us to incorporate the word YOU into our cards this week.

Isn't this a great word prompt!  I thought "you are"... immediately.  I decided to create nine cards for donation to Friends After Diagnosis, an organization supporting cancer patients.  In addition to their many patient programs, therapy and service, staff members often send messages of support to local patients.

This is a very simple card comprised of a Pinkfresh stenciled background and several layered sentiments. The sentiments from a Taylored Expressions set that not only features "you are" but also nine words that can be mixed and matched.  It would not be easy to stamp only one word and not die cut it.  The nine words are listed in a column on a red rubber stamp; the die is one piece, and die cuts all nine words at one time.  The words included are: Brave, Loved, Enough, Strong, Amazing, Inspiring, Not Alone, Incredible, and A Warrior.

The Paper Players PP732 - A Theme Challenge from Jan

Join us! It is THEME week at The Paper Players.  Jan is challenging you to use the theme TRAVEL (think ways to travel and places to travel) in your card creations.  Of course, neutrals are allowed; white, black, gray and kraft.

The sentiment is from a new set by KWerner for Concord & 9th.  All of the sentiments in the "checking in" set are fresh and new.  I decided I wanted to build my travel card around "long distance hug".  I am from the land of snow birds so many of my friends arrive in Florida in October and head back to their primary homes by Easter. The background is just a page from an old travel atlas.  In addition, to the sentiment, I added a few die cut landmarks and mode of transport icons from a Sizzix set.  The card was finished with a couple silver dots.  I made multiples of this card for personal correspondence with friends.

The card above was not my first attempt at a travel card.  Initially, I had the idea of creating a background of travel stamps.  The stamps were a find by a friend of mine at St. Vincent de Paul. I white embossed the sentiment on black cardstock.  After putting four cards together, I decided the cards was too "dark".  I prefer lots of white space, if possible, when I make a card.  I will donate these multiples to Operation Gratitudean organization supporting our Military and first responders letting them know that what they do matters. One of the handmade items they request is handmade cards for their care packages so recipients can write their loved ones.

Just Us Girls #769 -- DIE Week

Join us! It is
DIE week at Just Us Girls.  Sue is challenging us to use dies, BUT NO FLOWER dies, in our cards this week.   No flowers... not a problem.  I pulled out Concord & 9th's door decor dies.  This is a very easy set to die cut and layer.  First, I made three Christmas cards for the stash, then made a "spring" card to use for a housewarming gift.  On the Christmas card, I used glitter cardstock for the snow in the windows, and a precut foil sentiment.  So easy and fun!

The Paper Players PP731 - A Tic Tac Toe Challenge from Leanne

Join us! It is TIC TAC TOE week at The Paper Players.  Leanne is challenging you to use the tic tac toe board below in your card creations.  Pick three consecutive elements vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.

I chose the first column: Flowers, Diecut, and Lavender.  I thought Kristina Werner's new Cheerful Flowers set would be perfect.  The stencil that comes with the set is large and covers a 5.5"x8.5" panel, creating two A2 panels at once.  I made two full panels heavy on lavender (yielding four cards for my donation stash).  If you put the top card alongside the card below, you can see the full stenciled pattern.  To complete, I added a layered die cut sentiment backed in vellum.  Of course, I added a few gems too.  No card is complete without gems!

Just Us Girls #768 -- ANYTHING GOES STENCIL Week

Join us! It is
ANYTHING GOES STENCIL week at Just Us Girls.  Vicki is challenging us to use a stencil in our card creations this week.  I love this birthday stencil by Concord & 9th.  These balloon animals look so real.  Couple of things.  There three stencils in the set which build up each animal. These balloons look best if multiple colors are used but the stencil is spaced well enough that no masking is required.  I tried stenciling each layer in one color... the result was not good.  These stencils are definitely made for building each individual animal.

I finished off the card fronts with a layered sentiment and a few glitter dots.

I made four cards for donation to Little Birthday Angels, a local agency that ensures every child, who might not otherwise, has a birthday celebration.
